Terra d’Oro now produces delicious Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Chenin Viognier, Barbera, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and more.
We’re incredibly fortunate to be part of the long history established here more than 150 years ago, and hope that you’ll stop by for a visit.
Zinfandel is our passion, and lucky for us we are blessed with perfect growing conditions for this world-class varietal. Whether enjoying our Amador Zinfandel, or one of our three unique single vineyard offerings, you’ll experience the region’s trademark “Shenandoah spice” that makes our Zins stand above the rest.
Iron Hub Winery is owned and operated by Tom and Beth Jones and their children. Tom was the founding winemaker of Lava Cap Winery in the Apple Hill area near Placerville, CA after completing his Master Degree (Viticulture & Enology) at University of California, Davis.
He developed Lava Cap Winery’s style of award-winning wines for almost 30 years and left mid-2013 to begin new endeavors.
The Sobon Estate winery started in 1989 when Leon and Shirley Sobon bought each other a second winery for their 30th wedding anniversary present. They purchased the historic D’Agostini Winery, one of the oldest in the state. This winery has been designated as California State Historic Landmark #762.
This site was chosen not only for its historical winery, but also for its vineyards and vineyard land. The old vine Zinfandel was retained, and the other vineyards replanted with the best varieties and clones. The Sobon Estate label launched the estate line of wines for the Sobon Family — the best wines from their own grapes. These include Rhone varietals, vineyard designated Zinfandels, and dessert wines.
